CLIVE MURPHY & AENGUS WOODS

DIWIF: DEMONIC INTERVENTIONS WITH IKEA FURNITURE

Artist talk and book launch: Saturday, December 13th, 5 – 7 P.M.

Printed Matter, Inc.

Printed Matter and Rawson Projects are pleased to co-host a conversation with artist Clive Murphy and writer Aengus Woods on occasion of the publication of DIWIF (DEMONIC INTERVENTIONS WITH IKEA FURNITURE).

DIWIF explores the relationship between utopian aspirations and our suppressed primitive selves through the convention of the self-assembly manual. Illustrations from visual artist Clive Murphy are paired with text from writer and curator Aengus Woods, mimicking the self-assembly manual to the extent that it takes the form of a fragmentary assemblage of statements, quotations and facts concerning, but not limited to Bauhaus, IKEA, fascism, primitivism, utopia and shamanism.

DIWIF is one of six books published as part of Printed Matter’s Emerging Artists Publication Series. The publication is an edition of 350 copies and is available for purchase here.
